Ascites Drainage
Minimally invasive The catheter is inserted into the peritoneal space by means of the Seldinger technique. This minimises the risk of internal organs being injured. The intervention is carried out under a local anaesthetic, can take place as an inpatient or as an outpatient.
Minimised dislocation risk The catheter with polyester cuff is subcutaneously positioned using the tunnelling technique. The catheter is initially held in place with a suture. The cuff gradually adheres to the subcutaneous tissue and thereby minimises the risk of dislocation whilst also sealing the initial point of entry.
Drainage procedures are to be performed using the Peritoneal Drainage Kit. Each drainage kit contains 2 litre closed ascites bags and other necessary items to perform the drainage procedure and subsequent dressings.
